Robert R. Barravecchio
Robert Barravecchio practices before federal and state courts and government agencies in all areas of workplace law, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment litigation, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, independent contractor issues, and overtime and pay disputes. Throughout his 20 plus year legal career, Robert has represented employers and employees in various areas of litigation and administrative proceedings while employed by national law firms on both the plaintiff and defense side. Robert’s extensive experience representing individuals and management gives him a unique perspective in employment disputes which helps to facilitate the best results for his clients.
Recognized as a “New York Super Lawyer” by his peers for 2016, 2017, and 2019-2023, Robert focuses his practice on wage and hour issues, civil rights, employment discrimination, and qui tam actions where he has obtained significant settlements on behalf of victims of employment discrimination, discrimination in housing, as well as other civil rights violations. Robert has also earned an “AV” rating from his peers, the highest legal rating awarded by the legal rating publisher Martindale-Hubbell. Only two percent (2%) of New York metro area attorneys have earned the “AV” rating distinction. Additionally, Robert has lead litigation teams representing hundreds of plaintiffs in actions against various entities. Robert utilizes a hands-on approach to all matters he handles with an eye toward resolving matters in a way that is practical to his clients allowing them to obtain the results they seek while vindicating their rights.
Robert also has extensive experience defending employers against claims under federal and state civil rights and labor statutes, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII and the Equal Pay Act, among others. He has represented employers in all areas of workplace disputes, including wage claims, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, common-law torts, non-competes, unfair competition, trade secrets, wrongful termination, and constitutional law claims. Robert has also been successful in handling matters before the federal and state department of labor where he has achieved positive results for his clients. Robert has also served as the go-to attorney for several start-up and established business entities with regard to business formation, preparation and review of contracts as well as advice and counsel concerning onboarding and disciplining employees in order to avoid minimal business disruption.
Robert received his J.D. from New York Law School. He received his B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations where he works closely with the administration in identifying potential interns interested in a career in the law.
Robert is admitted to practice before the United States District Court of New Jersey and the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bars, and the American Bar Association.
Robert also serves as a member of Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations Alumni Association and enjoys spending time coaching sports for children and volunteering his time in the community for various causes.
